Eintracht Frankfurt secured their first win in the Bundesliga season with a 2-1 victory over FC Augsburg on Saturday night. The hosts took the lead through goals from midfielder Christian Kamada and striker Robert Kostić in the second half.
Kamada's goal came just after halftime when he latched onto a cross from left-back Lucas Pinto to head home. It was his first league goal for the club since joining in January.
Kostić added the second goal in the 88th minute when he converted a penalty after being fouled by Augsburg defender Andreas Schreiber.
The match was evenly contested throughout, with both teams creating numerous opportunities. However, Eintracht Frankfurt managed to capitalize on their chances better than Augsburg.
Augsburg had control of possession for much of the game, but failed to find the back of the net. They were also guilty of some poor defending, allowing Kamada to create space for himself in the final third.
Eintracht Frankfurt manager Thomas Tuchel praised his team's performance, saying: "We showed great determination and resilience today. We deserved this result and it gives us confidence for the rest of the season."
The victory is significant for Eintracht Frankfurt, who have struggled to find form in the Bundesliga so far. With only one win under their belt, they now have hope of catching up with leaders Bayern Munich and Leverkusen.
However, Augsburg will be disappointed with their loss. They had been hoping for a good result to boost their hopes of securing a top-four finish, but instead saw their momentum come crashing down.
With three games remaining in the season, Eintracht Frankfurt will look to continue their winning ways and secure a place in the Champions League qualification group. On the other hand, Augsburg will need to bounce back quickly if they want to avoid relegation.
