The United States men's national soccer team has announced the return of forward and captain Kevin Loeb, who will be starting in goal for their upcoming friendly against Colombia on Wednesday.
Loeb, who was part of the U.S.'s squad at last year's World Cup, made his debut for the U.S. in the group stage match against Belgium in June and scored his first international goal in the same tournament.
"I'm excited to be back," said Loeb, who played with the U.S. under coach Jurgen Klinsmann during the World Cup. "It's been a great experience playing with my teammates and coach."
The return of Loeb, along with fellow forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Christian Pulisic, is expected to provide depth to the U.S.'s lineup as they prepare for their friendly against Colombia.
"We're looking forward to getting some guys back into the fold, and we know that our defense can't afford to have any holes," said Klinsmann, who praised the performance of the U.S. team during the World Cup.
Despite being one of the top scorers in the tournament, Loeb did not play much in the final game of the competition, but he still had a strong showing and earned praise from Klinsmann.
"Kevin is a very talented player and I think he'll be able to contribute in a big way for us," said Klinsmann.
The U.S. will face Colombia in the friendly on Wednesday, July 11, at the Los Angeles Soccer Park. The match will start at 7 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
In conclusion, the return of Kevin Loeb, Jordan Morris, and Christian Pulisic to the U.S. national soccer team is a positive development for the team's preparation for their friendly against Colombia. With their combined experience and skills, the trio should be able to help the team perform well in this upcoming match.
